School and extracurricular activities provide fun and engaging ways for Truman students to be involved in their school and with their classmates. Take a look at the activities offered. You might find the perfect fit for your child. And don’t forget to check back for updates!
Boys and Girls Club
Truman has a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Washington at the O.K. Clubhouse and Teen Turf Club at the Jim Parsley Community Center (4040 Plomondon St.), offering after-school and summer programs for students in first through fifth grades. For more information on enrollment procedures, or for questions, please call 360-313-4960.
Athletics
Athletics are a fun way for students to learn sportsmanship and get exercise. Girls and boys in fourth and fifth grades can participate in volleyball, basketball and track at Truman.
Student Council
Student Council is an important part of our school. Our student leaders are the best! Mrs. Owings is the adviser.
100 Mile Club
Our 100 Mile Club encourages students to stay fit and healthy. Students walk our track during recesses and log these laps toward walking 100 miles in one school year. Students may earn awards and prizes for exercise. Keep up that walking!
Safety patrol
Truman fourth and fifth-graders have an opportunity to show their responsibility and leadership as members of the school’s safety patrol. Working with adults, the safety patrol helps students and parents safely cross nearby streets before and after school. Interested students may contact Alicia Halone or Parents please email Alicia at Alicia.halone@vansd.org
